Introducing the new larger version of their popular French Resistance Pochade™. This version features the same slim styling and versatile design of its sister French Resistance Pochade. Measuring 13” x 17” x 3” on the outside, this anti-French easel gives you lots of extra space, and allows you to paint any size panel or canvas from 4” to 24” high and carry it home safely secured to the box. It can be used with a standard camera tripod or on a tabletop. Works great with the 9x12 Guerrilla Backpacker Covered Palette or the 9x12 Guerrilla Backpacker Watercolor Palette. Complete with leather handle, storage compartments, telescoping mast and a universal tripod mount built into the bottom. You may also purchase the Large French Resistance Palette – a removable handheld wooden palette that comes complete with hardware to make it fit easily inside of the lid of your new Large French Resistance.

History
Customers were asking for more flexibility. They wanted to be able to paint on multiple sizes including squares and non-standard sizes. Carl wanted to try something new with his designs. He dreamed of combining the best features of a pochade box (built in storage and “all-in-one”, lightweight design with the flexibility of a French easel. He began working on prototypes in 2008 for this box and after a lot of modifications and do-overs the French Resistance™ came to be. The Medium French Resistance was introduced to the public in early 2010. The Large French Resistance was also being developed at the same time and was introduced in early 2011.
Carl says:
“The name ‘French Resistance’ is a double play on words. First of all, the WWII French Resistance was a guerrilla movement; secondly, this box is designed to improve on and replace the traditional French easel as the plein air painter’s workhorse.”

Large French Resistance Palette Extension Kit
This hinged Palette Extension Kit can be mounted on either the right or left hand side (or both sides). Because of the special offset hinge, this Palette Extension will fold down into the box, allowing the lid to close. Aluminum offsets keep the Palette Extension from contacting the inside surface of the box, so paint does not have to be removed before packing up. Each Palette Extension features holes for brushes and a parking slot for our Hang-Up Brush Caddy™. Some assembly is required. Stainless steel mounting hardware is included with assembly instructions.
